Getting On A Weight Gain Meal Plan

I still remember the first time I saw someone on a weight gain meal plan, also known as bulking, and I didn’t actually understand what they were doing yet it was clear that whatever it was wasn’t normal. I was a Sophomore in high school in South Florida where the football team was the school’s biggest money maker (we’re talking a “Friday Night Lights” type of money maker) and I would cross paths with the biggest students in our class. These guys were the linemen and linebackers who were bigger than every grown man I knew at the time, the only difference was they were also the same guys who would ask me for help in Geometry class. The interesting thing about them was that they were all carrying the large one gallon water jugs that you’d normally buy to keep a family hydrated for a day during a hurricane. If you could imagine, we’re talking about these juggernauts of boys, six feet – two hundred pounds and up who would walk around with these gallons of water as if they were ready to put out a fire at a moment’s notice, later I would come to learn that they were actually clean bulking and the water was the source of the body’s energy to keep them hydrated at all times. Now, when I think of a weight gain meal plan the first thing that crosses my mind is the phrase “clean bulking”. Firstly, a weight gain meal plan shouldn’t [...]

Celebrity Weight Gain

“This mortal form is weak, my body needs sustenance!” If you’re an action movie film buff, a Marvel comics nerd, or just have a really good memory you probably remember this line from the 2011 blockbuster hit “Thor” about the ultra beefy God of Thunder. For the role, Chris Hemsworth packed on the pounds by following a strict weight gain meal plan that ended up with him looking more like a muscular sex symbol than the Aussie actor who happened to play Captain Kirk’s dearly departed father in his spare time. Buckle up folks, today we’re talking about one of the juiciest of subjects: celebrity weight gain. Now, if you grew up watching Pier 1 commercials chances are when you think of celebrity weight gain one of the first things to cross your mind is Kirsty Alley. Now, we’re not picking on her just because she’s been fat every other lunar ecllipse, but let’s be honest. When we think of actors who get fat she always comes up! There, now that’s out of the way. Celebrity weight gain doesn’t always have to be a negative thing as we just mentioned with Thor and chances are most women are more likely to remember a celebrity who embarks on a weight gain meal plan than when the actor just looks like they always do. To put that into perspective let’s talk about Gerard Butler for a few minutes. How many of you reading this actually remember Gerard Butler from “Tomorrow Never Dies”, [...]

More About A Weight Gain Meal Plan

So we’ve already discussed what a weight gain meal plan actually is as well as some of the finer points of a weight gain meal plan, including tracking your progress. Let’s start to dive right into the nitty-gritty of the details shall we? First off, you can’t expect to simply eat like a pig then go work out and come out looking like Ronnie Coleman or Arnold Schwarzenegger in a few months. Chances are you’re going to pack on a lot of fat and feel like a damn wildebeest. Secondly, while the thought of eating lots of food everyday sounds like fun, since all of your other friends are probably going to be turning down many foods because they don’t want to gain two pounds and break their New Years Resolutions, the truth is it’s going to be extremely tedious and when you’re successful the idea of becoming a personal trainer is going to cross your mind a few times. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience. With that said here are some things that need to be done in order to be successful when following a true weight gain meal plan: You need to eat more calories to grow, but make sure they’re the right calories. If you haven’t figured out your basal metabolic rate now’s a good time to learn what it is. It’s simply the amount of calories you need to function on a daily basis. If you want to gain weight just eat 500 calories more a [...]

What is a Weight Gain Meal Plan?

So now let’s start talking about what a weight gain meal plan is. Firstly, let’s discuss what a weight gain meal plan isn’t. It isn’t one of the fad diets you’ll see on television at 1pm during a “Maury” commercial break (chances are, if you’re watching that show you’re probably on your own weight gain meal plan already, but that’s another story for another day). It’s not the South Beach Diet or the Atkins Diet and it has nothing to do with Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. It’s probably the antithesis of every fad diet you’ll ever see on television and the truth is, it’s probably harder to bulk up on a weight gain meal plan than it is to simply eat less calories and work out every now and then. A weight gain meal plan is when someone is deliberately eating more food than a normal person would while exercising like a beast in order to make their body’s larger. So if you’ve ever talked to a body builder and next thing you know they’re walking away for their 7th meal of the day chances are you’ve seen exactly what we’re talking about. A weight gain meal plan usually involves a lot of protein, and we’re talking about more protein than you’d ever eat if you were just eating when hungry. When embarking on a weight gain meal plan, most experts recommend that a person ingests about 1 to 1.5 grams or protein per pound they weigh, so if [...]
